Country/Bluegrass EnsembleGroup Music CoursesMondays, Sept. 21-Dec. 21, 4-5 p.m (dates subject to change) If you love country or bluegrass music, there is a group for you. The Country/Bluegrass Ensemble may be your first step to becoming a country superstar. This ensemble learns traditional bluegrass styles and current contemporary country hit songs. Performances are then scheduled to give students a chance to show off their skills. We are looking for singers, guitarists, banjo players, mandolin players, steel guitarists, violinists, bass players, and drummers who have at least one year experience on their instruments. Performances TBA. Audition is required. Instrumental auditions will be held on Monday, Sept. 14 in the PRM Band Room at 3:50 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 15 in the CMW Band Room and Thursday, Sept. 17 in the CME Band Room at 3:50 p.m. Students should choose one of these dates. No sign up is necessary to audition. Students should prepare one song of their choice to perform at the audition. Students might also be asked to sightread at the audition. Vocalists should audition by filming a video singing a song of their choice and sending it to Eric Songer at songere@district112.org by 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 13. WaitlistGarage BandGroup Music CoursesMondays OR Fridays, Sept. 14-Dec. 18. Dates may change. Are you looking to be part of a rock band with people who have the same love of music as you do? Then come be part of the nationally recognized District 112 Garage Band. Since 2004, we have been providing students an innovative rock band experience like none other in the Twin Cities area. Play or sing everything from classic rock to the newest rock with other musicians who love it as much as you do. We are looking for singers, guitarists, keyboardists, bass players, drummers and brass/sax players who have at least two years experience on their instruments. Performances: TBA Audition is required. Jazz Band- CMSE 7th & 8th GradeGroup Music CoursesJazz band is a great extra-curricular elective where you are able to explore an important American music tradition. You will be exposed to the many styles of jazz influenced music including: the blues, swing, be-bop, Latin-jazz, funk, rock and more! Jazz band is a great way to improve your musicianship skills on your instrument, play different styles of music, and learn about improvisation! ALL BAND INSTRUMENTS ARE WELCOME TO JOIN JAZZ BAND! If you play guitar, bass, piano or drum set this is a great opportunity for you to enhance your musicianship on those instruments. This course is for 7th and 8th grade students at Chaska Middle School East.Fall 2020

Latin Mariachi BandGroup Music CoursesThis band will meet in-person. The contemporary Latin music of today plus the traditional Mariachi music it grew from is now available for you to perform here in District 112. Come sing or play guitar, guitarron, violin, brass instruments, bass guitar or drums with our Mariachi/Latin Band. We will learn both traditional Mariachi music and contemporary Latin hit songs. Music experience is preferred but not required. We will also have an opportunity to perform. Come be part of the fun! Due to COVID-19 precautions, only registered participants of activities are allowed in District buildings. Parents are not permitted to enter the facility nor stay to watch practices or activities. Exception: if the participant is 5 years old or younger, one parent may attend. Please keep siblings at home. Instructors will greet students at the entrance before class and return them to the same door when class is complete. Instructors will wear a mask and face shield Anyone over the age of 5 years must wear a face covering at all times – regardless of what activity they’re participating in. Your cooperation will help keep everyone safe and allow us to continue to offer enrichment activities and sports and we thank you in advance.Winter/Spring 2021
