Tomorrow’s innovators practice imaginative thinking and teamwork. Guided by two or more adult coaches (parent volunteers), FIRST LEGO League* teams research a real-world problem such as food safety, recycling, energy, etc., and are challenged to develop a solution. They also must design, build, program a robot using LEGO MINDSTORMS®, then compete on a table-top playing field. The really cool thing about FIRST LEGO League is…all skill levels are welcomed and needed, technical or non-technical. Each team is guided by 2 volunteer parent coaches (18+). This program cannot run without the help of parents being able to coach the teams, so please consider coaching! FIRST offers many wonderful resources to help guide coaches through the process.*Registration for FIRST Lego League begins on May 1 and closes on August 31, 2019 or until the program has filled. Whichever comes first. Due to deadlines with the FIRST Program, we are not able to accept registrations after this date.
FIRST Lego League teams meet on evenings and weekends at Chaska High School. Each team's practice time will be determined after coaches have been established. You will be contacted by your child's coach with practice details early September.
Registration fee includes 1 Regional Tournament. If a team chooses to attend or qualifies for other events, additional fees may apply to cover costs.
