  • Adapted Music Class

    Participants with special needs will learn how to play songs on color-coded 3-string guitars, keyboards and bass guitars as well as a plethora of percussion instruments. Sing along as well. We’ll learn pop, rock, hip hop and country songs. Innovative adaptive music curriculum designed by Twin Cities leader in music education Ruth LeMay and taught by district music educator Eric Songer. Instruments provided. **Adapted music class offered in partnership with Chaska Parks & Recreation. *Class must get 5 registrations in order to run.
  • Music Technology

    Here is your opportunity to learn how music is created in 2024. Learn how to DJ using Serato DJ software and Pioneer controllers. Students will create your own music using Band Lab, Garage Band, Logic, Noteflight and Finale. Learn how to perform live using Ableton Push, Main Stage, Launchpads, seaboards, voice transformers, and drum machines and how to run sound and recording gear.
  • Beginning Guitar

    Learn chords, strumming patterns, note reading, tabs and more. By the end of the class, you can pick a song of your choice to learn. Method book included. No prior experience needed. Guitars are available if you need one or bring your own. Acoustic or electric.
  • Pop Ensemble

    For almost 20 years Heidi & Eric Songer have been offering the Garage Band program for students with music experience to perform rock music in a band setting. Recently they introduced this innovative twist on this very popular program. Pop Ensemble is an opportunity to be in a band and learn and perform current Top 40 hits by artists such as Ariana Grande, Maroon 5, The Weeknd, Dua Lipa, Shawn Mendes, Cardi B, Marshmello, Khalid, Billie Eilish, and many more. Students must have at least TWO years of experience on one of the following instruments: piano, bass guitar, drum set, guitar, singing or rapping. We are also looking for students with experience working with Garage Band, Ableton, or Logic. There will be a performance or two on dates TBA.
  • Summer Middle School Garage Band

    Are you looking to be part of a rock band and just can’t find the people, place to rehearse or music? Then come be part of the District 112 Garage Band. Since 2004, we have been providing students an innovative rock band experience like none other in the Twin Cities area. Play or sing everything from classic rock to the newest rock with other musicians who love it as much as you do. We are looking for singers, guitarists, keyboardists, bass players, drummers and horn players who have at least two-years' experience on their instruments. Rehearsals: *Wednesdays, June 19-July 24 *Students will be assigned a session: 12:00pm, 1:15pm, 2:30pm Performances: Chaska River City Days Weekend of July 27-29
  • Summer High School Garage Band

    Continue the Garage Band experience this summer with our short summer season. This is your opportunity to be in a top-notch high-octane rock band and have some incredible performing experiences. This is not for students currently participating in the school year High School Garage Band experience with Kris Stauffer. But if you would like to play or sing everything from classic rock to the newest rock with other musicians who love it as much as you do in just a few rehearsals that won’t take up to much of your busy schedule, then this the group for you. We are looking for singers, guitarists, keyboardists, bass players, drummers and horn players who have at least four years experience on their instruments. Rehearsals: *Wednesdays, June 26-July 31 *Students will be assigned a session: 12pm, 1:15pm, 2:30pm Performances: Chaska River City Days Weekend of July 27-29
  • Movie Band

    A concert band that performs music exclusively from movies which may include “Star Wars”, “Harry Potter”, “Jurassic Park”, “Lord of the Rings”, Disney favorites, Marvel movies and more. The music is geared toward students who are in their first three years of playing a band instrument. Performance: July 26-28 Chaska River City Days
  • Summer Marching Band

    Learn the basics of street marching, play some fun music, and perform in three parades. Students should have at least one year of experience playing a band instrument. Performances: Thursday, July 4 Chanhassen Independence Day Parade July 26-28 Chaska River City Days July 15 Valleyfair Students will need to purchase a shirt for $15 (if they don't already have one) and a lyre to hold their music (costs vary between $5-$13).
  • Summer Jazz Ensemble

    : Learn about America’s original art form and play with a wonderful group of musicians in our summer jazz ensemble. Learn fun music, how to improvise, how to play in a jazz style and a performance or two. Should have at least two years of experience playing a band instrument or guitar, piano, bass, drums or voice. Open to students who have just completed grades 6-8. Performance: River City Days Downtown Chaska Weekend of July 26-28
