"Mom Psych" SeriesParent EducationJoin us for any or all classes! Eastern Carver County Schools' very own Parent Educator, Lisa Weir and host of the "Mom Psych" podcast will be teaching evening Parent Education sessions each month on a variety of relevant parenting topics. Lisa brings a wealth of experience , research-based information and best parenting practices to life in a fun, relaxed, judgment free environment. The time will fly! All sessions are appropriate for parents and caregivers of children ages 3-10 years. Register for as many sessions as you prefer. Sign-up early as space is limited! January 31, 6-7:30pm Raising Responsible, Life-Ready Adults: In this session we will discover research-based parenting practices, from How To Raise An Adult, by Dr. Julie Lythcott-Haims that cultivate responsibility and prepares kids for a successful transition to adulthood. The process of becoming life ready begins in elementary school and continues through adolescence. February 28, 6-7:30pm Fostering a Growth Mindset and Learning to Persist Despite Challenges: In this session we will explore the research of Dr. Carol Dweck, author of Mindsets. Her research has shown that kids who demonstrate a GROWTH MINDSET are more likely to work hard on a task, project or interest which increases their odds of success in life. Parents have significant influence when it comes to shaping their children's mindset. We'll discuss several parenting strategies to support the development of a GROWTH MINDSET. April 25, 6-7:30pm Coping With Worries and Anxiety: Helping Kids Lower The Volume on Their Worries. In this session we will share several strategies from Tamar Chansky's book, Freeing Your Child From Anxiety, and her website: Worry Wise Kids. If you have a child who has many worries and fears, you will come away with many new tools for supporting your child and perhaps yourself.Winter/Spring 2023

Popular12-24 Months - World of OnesECFE (Early Childhood Family Education)World of Ones for 12-24 Months Discover the developmental needs of a one year old and learn about what drives them in their quest for exploring the world around them. Learn what parents can do to maintain equilibrium in the household amidst the opposing drives of this age. This is a gradually separating class and there is no separation during the first class. After the firsts class the amount of separation time can vary anywhere between 10 minutes and 40 minutes and is determined by the needs of the children, the needs of the parents, the ages of the children and the staffing of a particular group. 3D Printing: Build Your Own RobotMiddle School S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math)3D Printing is here to stay! This class is for students who have no or limited experience with 3D Printing. Students will be learning the ropes of 3D modeling and printing. They will use 3D pens to understand printing in plastic and use CAD software (computer-aided design) to design parts for their robot to be 3D printed. By the end of the week they will 2 dc-powered robots - a sketchbot and a drive bot. A few things to remember when arriving for camp: • Please do not park in the Bus/Fire Lane along the curb at the Family Learning Center when dropping off/picking up from camp. • Our school buildings are secure. Please pick up and drop off from the Main Entrance at the Family Learning Center. • Most times instructors must go directly to another location after class and are unable to stay late. Please make arrangements to have your child picked up at class end time.Summer 2023

3D Printing: Minecraft CreationsMiddle School S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math)3D Printing and Minecraft are 2 of the most exciting things around. This class is for students who have no or limited experience with 3D Printing. Students will be learning the ropes of 3D modeling and printing. Engineering is incorporated as they are introduced to circuits and by the end of the week will bring home a working minecraft ore lamp. In this fun class we'll take a look at the fastest growing social media app used by millions each day. Learn how it's used and how parents can also help their kids stay safe while on it. We'll cover everything you need to know as it's paving the future of a new social media. Each class recording will be sent to all registered participants so that they do not have to attend at the exact designated time. Each class will consist of approximately 1 hour of fun, live-ball tennis drills with lots of movement utilizing all the tennis strokes to help improve your tennis game. The remaining 30 minutes will consist of both singles and/or doubles match play.
