  • Photo Organization-Print & Digital

    Have a photo mess…are your photographs in a box, drawer, suitcase, phone, camera chip, external hard drive, or all of the above? Is your goal to SAVE, ORGANIZE, and SHARE your photos? Discover alternatives to get every printed/digital photo, movie and memorabilia in one location permanently and safely. Learn about scanners, digitizing old photos, cloud storage and organization. You'll leave with options to easily access every photo you own! In the event that gatherings are not permitted due to the Corona Virus, this class will be conducted using Zoom. The instructor will provide the meeting code/password via the email you provide. Community Education Classes and Camps will continue to follow all current Covid-19 guidelines in accordance with the CDC, MDH and MDE. Updates will be posted online and notifications will be sent out prior to the activity. Guidelines as of March 8th, 2021: Parents are not permitted to enter the indoor facility nor stay to watch practices or activities.   • Sewing: Alterations

    Please bring your sewing machine from home! Are you able to thread your machine and sew a simple straight stitch? If so, you are ready for some quick and easy Alterations! In this class we will learn the basics of simple alterations that will extend the life of your wardrobe and create a fit just for you. Topics include hemming, repairing holes, increasing/decreasing waistbands and repurposing garments. Samples will be provided for practice during class. You are also welcome to bring your own projects for guidance and practice. Whether or not an alteration can be completed in class depends on the time required and complexity of the alteration.     In this beginning sewing class, you will have the opportunity to learn to thread the machine, basic terminology, difference in needles and fabric,understanding the purpose of different machine stitches as well as length and width adjustments. We will practice our new skills by creating a fun burlap banner! This banner can be created for a special occasion like a birthday or anniversary - or ring in the seasons with this chic home decor. A set of banners makes a great gift! You will have the option to choose the letters in your banner. Please bring your own sewing machine. We will email you a list of materials to bring with you to class. If you do not receive a materials list, please reach out to Community Ed prior to class. You must bring all materials to class and be sure to purchase the correct type of fabric for the best result. Ask for assistance at the store if needed.     In this beginning sewing class, you will have the opportunity to learn to thread the machine, basic terminology, differences in needles and fabric, understand the purpose of different machine stitches as well as length and width adjustments. We will practice our new skills by creating reusable face wipes and wash clothes! The knowledge you gain here can be applied to making lots of other things like blankets, table cloths, place mats and more! Please bring your own machine.   • Sewing: T-Shirt Quilt

    Please bring your sewing machine from home! Are you able to thread your machine and sew a simple straight stitch? If so, you are ready to try your hand at Quilting! In this class, we will learn how to piece together a T-Shirt Quilt by re-purposing all those old T-Shirts you may have laying around. Don't have old T-Shirts? Any knit or woven fabric of similar thickness will work! This is a 2-night class - be prepared for homework in between the classes in order to finish the project. Please bring your own machine.     In this sewing class, you can expand on your beginners knowledge of sewing by following pattern instructions to create a cute, functional and environmentally friendly tote bag! These tote bags are great for yourself or as a gift. Farmers Market season is approaching and this is a great way to carry your goodies home in a sustainable way. If you can thread your machine and sew a (mostly!) straight stitch then this class is for you! Please bring your own sewing machine. We will email you a list of materials to bring with you to class.
