  • Adventures in Knitting

    Join this knitter's workshop where students can choose from four projects. You bring the yarn and needles and the teacher, Lara Neel, will bring the patterns and make sure that you have a great time making a project you will treasure or love to give as a gift! This class is perfect for knitters of all levels. If you're confused by the material list or have questions about the projects, come to the first class and Lara will get you started. You can then purchase supplies before the second class. Projects to choose from: 1. Hat (great for beginners) – about 220 yards of worsted-weight yarn, size 7 16-inch circular needles and size 7 double-pointed needles. 2. Slippers – about 380 yards of worsted-weight yarn and size 9 needles, any type of needle is fine. 3. Baby Sweater – about 220 yards of worsted-weight yarn and a set of size 10 needles, any type of needle is fine. 4. Mittens – about 120 yards of worsted-weight yarn and a set of size 6 double-pointed needles. Join us online! This class will be held using the online platform, Zoom. Upon registering, you will receive a link to access the class. Simply click the link on the days and time of class to attend the class from the comfort of your own home! This online class is held in partnership with Westonka Community Education.
  • Bob Ross Oil Painting

    This course will guide you through the step-by-step technique of the Bob Ross Wet-on-Wet style of painting. In this relaxed atmosphere, each class will provide you the opportunity to make your very own 20 x 16 replica of a Bob Ross painting that may include sunsets, mountains, rivers, hills, lakes, trees, or seascapes. You will be able to amaze yourself and your friends with your very own masterpiece that you can keep for yourself or give as a gift. June 21 Class Evening at Sunset All equipment at each station will be disinfected prior to class. The instructor will wear a mask and gloves during the duration of the class. Due to COVID-19 precautions, only registered participants of activities are allowed in District buildings. Instructors will greet students at the entrance before class and return them to the same door when class is complete.   • Crocheted Dreamcatcher

    Crochet your own Dreamcatcher! This instructed class will provide all the material and lead you through the steps to create a beautiful Dreamcatcher to hang in your window. Basic understanding of crocheting is helpful, but not essential. Class will be held outside on the deck at the Family Learning Center (indoors if needed) and distancing measures will be in place. Community Education Classes and Camps will continue to follow all current Covid-19 guidelines in accordance with the CDC, MDH and MDE. Updates will be posted online and notifications will be sent out prior to the activity. Guidelines as of March 8th, 2021: Parents are not permitted to enter the indoor facility nor stay to watch practices or activities. Exception: if the participant is 5 years old or younger, one parent may attend. Please keep siblings at home.     Calling all Makers, Creators, Crafters & Artists! This is a great activity to do with the family or give as a gift! The kit includes everything you need: board, laser cut “Woof”, custom name (additional fee), dog of your choice, hook, White/Black/Brown paint (all 3 colors included), and everything you need to complete your leash/collar hanger. Completed sign is 5.5in. x 5.5in. Wood sizes may vary by size due to length of name. Please indicate which silhouette you would like to order from the 'drop down price menu'. Registrations received prior to Tuesday will be available for pick up on Thursdays of that same week . Registrations received after Tuesday will be available the following Thursday.     This is a great activity to do with the family or give as a gift! The kit includes everything you need: unfinished wood sign, 3 cut-out gnomes, 3 noses, 3 interchangeable shapes (oars, life vest, fish), 3 interchangeable hats, Velcro, 10 colors of paint, glue, stencil, paint brush, foam brush, written instructions, and access to video instructions on a Facebook group page. Finished sign measures 9.25 x 14 inches. Please allow about a week to prepare orders.   • Mandala Dot Art Class

    This Mandala art class includes 3 hours of detailed instructor led small group participation, paint mixing, live interactive step-by-step guidance, tips and tricks, loads of creativity and a finished project to call your own! You will not realize how quickly time flies when you are having fun! Mandala painting is an ancient art form which can be meditative, healing and very relaxing. Benefits include: stress reduction, mental clarity, development of spatial awareness, enhanced attention and concentration. More than anything, it is an extremely joyful process for adults of all ages with no previous art experience required. The art form will rejuvenate your mind, body and soul in a meditative safe environment while joyfully engaging in learning something new. This is scheduled to run in-person. Should we need to change to a virtual option, we will notify participants. Finished project will be similar to photos.
