For 6-12th grades - New and returning students invited! Join this fast growing Olympic sport. Each {YEL!} fencing class follows four basic components: •Teach It!…Hall of Fame Olympic Fencing Coach Ro Sobalvarro crafts our lessons and curriculum. •Practice It!…Students pair up and practice the fencing move or concept, rotate partners and repeat. •Move It!…Students then participate in fencing matches using only the moves taught so far. •Play It!…10-15 minutes each class students fence with multiple fencers at their skill level. All equipment provided. Sign up today to THINK, LEARN and PLAY WELL with {YEL!}. The {YEL!} Fencing Team will be working toward competing in dual meets and the State High School Championship. Students are not required to compete in these team events, but may be encouraged by their coach. The {YEL!} Fencing Team will be made up of three or more members in the following divisions: Men’s Foil, Women’s Foil, Men’s Epee and Women’s Epee. Due to COVID-19 precautions, only registered participants of activities are allowed in District buildings. Parents are not permitted to enter the facility nor stay to watch practices or activities. Exception: if the participant is 5 years old or younger, one parent may attend. Please keep siblings at home. Instructors will greet students at the entrance before class and return them to the same door when class is complete. Instructors will wear a mask and face shield Anyone over the age of 5 years must wear a face covering at all times – regardless of what activity they’re participating in.
